A first-deposit bonus can be accurately described in an international casino review without being available on the operator's German site. The distinction matters in Germany, where the permitted activity, website, operator and advertising conditions can differ within one brand. The records above describe the versions reviewed. This guide shows how to read their deposit and bonus figures, and where the German framework asks a different question.
Germany licenses products as well as companies
Start with the exact website, operator and product. The official whitelist maintained by the Joint Gambling Authority of the Federal States, or GGL, distinguishes categories such as virtual slots, online poker and sports betting. Online casino table games have separate arrangements and can depend on the relevant federal state. A listing for a sports-betting site or virtual slots is not evidence that the same site may offer every casino game.
A brand can use one domain for its international casino and another for its authorised German product. Both may display euros and similar designs. A welcome offer from the international service should remain attached to that version, even if the group also has a German permission. Check the operator and named domain, rather than using a group's brand or a logo as proof of scope. The German licences guide explains the categories and records to compare.
The date of the record also matters. A recent whitelist can show which service is authorised now, while a dated account agreement can show which company received an earlier payment. Those statements concern different times. If the exact domain in an old promotion is not known, do not attach the promotion to a similar name in the current register.
Advertising permission is narrower than an operating licence
Section 5 of the 2021 Interstate Treaty on Gambling prohibits advertising and sponsorship for unauthorised gambling. For internet and broadcast advertising of virtual slots, online poker and online casino games, it also sets a daily restriction between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., subject to the provisions stated in that section. A service appearing on the whitelist does not make every advertisement or promotion permissible.
The treaty separately addresses personal advertising and affiliate remuneration. For internet advertising of gambling from which excluded players are barred, it restricts variable compensation, including compensation tied to turnover, deposits or stakes. Personal advertising covered by the rule also has consent and exclusion-list requirements. Those provisions are separate from whether a historical account met a welcome offer's deposit threshold.
The GGL has explained that applicable permit conditions can regulate advertising with bonuses or rebates. A consumer should be able to see who qualifies, what the promotion is for, its duration and the value of the benefit. The precise conditions of the relevant permit and product still matter. A visible promotion in another market cannot establish that those requirements were met in Germany.
Identify what the first deposit actually triggered
A welcome package can cover several deposits. The number advertised at the top might combine caps from different stages or include a spin allocation. It is not a reliable guide to the first deposit alone. Read the minimum, match rate and cap of that stage, then locate the credit that the operator associated with the payment.
A first attempted payment and a first eligible deposit may be different events. A bank can authorise an amount that is later released or reversed. The operator may count the first amount actually credited to the account. If a later deposit received the reward, ask which transaction was used and what the relevant terms count. Keep the bank reference and operator's account reference separately.
Later deposits can still be part of the original welcome package. A separate reload promotion has its own terms. Identify the campaign next to each payment, especially where two credits have the same account label. The date, offer name and ledger entry can be more informative than the order of payments on a statement.
Read the minimum, percentage and cap separately
The minimum decides whether the deposit qualifies. The match rate calculates a nominal reward and the cap limits it. A figure described as up to a certain amount is not what every deposit earns. For illustration, a foreign offer matching 40% up to 50 units would nominally credit 24 on an eligible 60-unit deposit. A qualifying 150-unit deposit would reach the cap at 50. These figures are an example, independent of any offer listed above.
Find out whether the operator limits the maximum qualifying deposit or only caps the result. In the first case, a payment beyond the allowed range might not qualify. In the second, a larger payment could produce a capped credit. Ask which rule was applied if a support reply describes the payment as too large without identifying a clause.
Keep the original currency on the deposit, credit and cap. The account can use euros while a processor records another denomination, or the other way around. The fact a bonus is advertised in EUR does not make it a German offer. Compare the amount accepted by the operator with the actual conversion and the terms for that currency. Do not use a current exchange rate to reconstruct a historical credit.
Understand the German deposit limit independently from a bonus
The German framework uses a player-set monthly deposit limit across providers for the products covered by the system. The GGL explains the general EUR 1,000 maximum and the conditions for an exceptional higher limit. The applicable limit is a safeguard, separate from the minimum or maximum an offer uses. A headline reward cannot raise the player's limit or establish that another deposit can be accepted.
Limits can also apply within an account or to a different activity, such as losses or stakes. Check which one the operator cited if a payment or withdrawal is disputed. A payment can fail for a separate reason at the bank or processor. Keep the message and transaction reference rather than attributing the refusal to a particular safeguard without evidence.
In a transaction history, place the deposit and promotional credit in separate columns. A credit recorded by the operator is not another bank deposit. If the bank amount and the account amount differ, use the German payment methods guide to locate the currency and settlement records. The offer calculation and payment trace can then be checked independently.
Separate spins, bonus credit and withdrawable funds
A welcome offer can bundle a percentage match with promotional rounds. The number of rounds does not say what each round is worth, which game is eligible or what the rounds actually returned. If the operator released rounds in batches, keep the dates and conditions of each batch. The main credit can have a different expiry or payout rule.
A free-spin allocation contingent on a deposit is still part of a deposit offer. For a reward triggered without a payment, see the no-deposit guide. The same campaign may include both, but the conditions of one do not automatically apply to the other.
If the account combines cash, promotional funds and winnings, ask which entry the operator changed. Removing a credit can lower the displayed total without reversing the bank payment. A promotional balance is also different from an amount available to withdraw. Use the actual ledger and applicable terms rather than interpreting a combined total as a cash balance.
Find the balance to which a wagering condition applied
In international terms, a multiplier might apply to the bonus credit or to a combined deposit and bonus balance. The same multiple produces different results depending on its base. Check game contributions, stake caps and deadlines in the original terms. If a particular transaction was rejected, ask which rule applied to which funds and which event triggered it.
Use the rules for the version of the service actually involved. A foreign game catalogue may have different settings or offer conditions from an authorised German version. The approved product and exact domain determine the scope of a German licence. A common game supplier, a euro-denominated account or a similar brand does not make the conditions interchangeable.
If the original terms cannot be recovered, describe the evidence you have. An account statement can show that a credit appeared without proving its full conditions. A bank receipt can show a deposit without establishing its eligibility. Ask the verified operator for the dated terms and account calculation rather than substituting terms from a newer offer.
Read the activation, deposit and payout deadlines individually
An offer can have a claim deadline, a deposit window and a separate period for satisfying payout conditions. A notification that expires at midnight might concern only the first of those events. If a payment was initiated near a cut-off, keep the original times on both the payment record and the account ledger. The terms should identify which event determines eligibility.
The same URL can display a different promotion later. Preserve the original notice and any attached terms before relying on a current page. If the operator cites a changed minimum, cap or eligible game, ask for the effective date. A revision can affect future customers without explaining the conditions of a previous deposit.
A new app or site can show a familiar logo while belonging to a different version. The German mobile guide explains how to identify the publisher and address. Save the notification, sender and page it opened if the presentation of the offer matters. A later screenshot cannot show which conditions a previous account actually saw.
Keep promotional messages and account safeguards in context
The German treaty contains restrictions on advertising to excluded players and on benefits such as bonuses or discounts for players whose exclusion has been lifted. If a message arrived after an exclusion or account restriction, retain the original confirmation and dates. A notice about funds owed has a different purpose from an invitation to deposit. Do not infer consent or an account change from the mere fact that a message was received.
A welcome claim made through a link may be addressed to a broad audience or to a particular account. For an advertising report, preserve where and when it appeared and what site it referred to. For an account dispute, preserve the dated terms and deposit history. For a financial trace, use the actual settlement reference. The same promotion can raise all three questions, but the evidence needed to answer them differs.
Keep passwords and one-time codes private. If an unfamiliar message requests a payment to release an earlier reward, confirm it using the verified operator or payment institution. If money already moved, keep the original receipt and any trace reference. The sender knowing the campaign name or amount does not establish its authority.
Identify the licence conditions behind a German advertising claim
Read the treaty as a starting point. The conditions attached to a particular German permit can regulate how an operator presents a bonus and who may receive it. The GGL has reported a court decision upholding conditions that require clear information about the eligible group, occasion, duration and value of a benefit. That is a rule about presenting a promotion. It is not evidence that any named operator has made an offer to a particular account.
When a site claims that a promotion is authorised, establish which domain and product the claim covers. A general corporate licence statement may refer to sports betting when the offer links to an online slots service. An affiliate could also show a single brand name while directing visitors to a different website. Preserve the original destination and named legal company. That evidence is more useful than a search result repeating the brand's licence claim.
Keep the time and place of publication if an advertisement itself is at issue. A screenshot without date or context cannot establish when the promotion appeared or which audience received it. An account receipt can identify the customer transaction, but it does not establish when a public message was shown. A promotion can therefore require both a publication record and a separate account record.
Compare two versions of the same brand without transferring the terms
Suppose an international review describes a first-deposit offer in euros and the same brand also has a German website. The international terms identify the reviewed product and campaign. A domestic register can establish the German product's permission. Neither document shows that the international offer was copied to the German account. The actual German campaign terms and date would be needed for that claim.
Similarly, a change in local domain or legal operator can affect an account without changing the brand. Retain the original deposit, credit and any migration notice. If a support team says that a different company handled the old payment, ask it to identify the original account and the date responsibility changed. The new casino guide distinguishes a local opening, licence date and later site move.
If the record remains incomplete, write down what can be proved independently. A receipt can establish a settled amount. A promotion notice can show the stated match. A ledger can identify a posted credit. A whitelist entry can establish the permission it actually describes. Keep those findings separate rather than using one to fill in a missing claim about the others.
If a later document corrects a value, keep the correction with its effective date. It can explain a newer credit without changing the terms of the earlier payment. Ask the operator whether the corrected amount replaced an existing entry or was added to it. The two treatments can produce different totals even if the correction itself is the same amount.
Questions about welcome bonus records and Germany
Do the tables establish offers for Germany? They describe international versions. Verify the exact German operator, website, licensed product and promotion conditions separately.
Does a whitelist entry make every promotion permissible? No. The treaty and the applicable permit conditions also govern advertising, its timing and the audience it reaches.
Does the package total apply to the first deposit? A total can combine several stages. Read the minimum, rate and cap for the payment actually made.
Does a credit increase the German deposit limit? A promotional credit and the applicable deposit limit are separate. Check the limit through the licensed account and the regulator's guidance.
What helps with an earlier dispute? Keep the exact website, company, offer, deposit receipt and account history. If a transfer was claimed, keep its amount, currency and traceable reference.
