Portugal’s gambling regulator, the SRIJ, introduced an updated form for online gambling self-exclusion on 8 April 2026. Its significance lies in the scope of one request: it applies across websites licensed for online gambling in Portugal.

Central and individual requests

A player who requests self-exclusion directly through an individual licensed website is using that operator’s process. The SRIJ route instead covers the regulated Portuguese online market. Someone who wants to restrict more than one account should distinguish the two before making the request.

Where the coverage ends

The central form applies to operators licensed in Portugal. It is not a mechanism for blocking every offshore website on the internet. The relevant register identifies the operator and domain, so a similar trading name is not enough to establish that the protection applies to a site.
