Spain’s gambling regulator, the DGOJ, presented its safer gambling programme for 2026 to 2030 to its advisory council. The programme sets out 24 measures across six objectives. Its three priorities cover research and analysis, prevention, and protection for people who gamble.
A plan and a rule have different effects
The programme identifies projects the regulator wants to pursue with advice from the council. A project in that programme is not necessarily a binding obligation on the day it is announced. To know what changes for an operator or account holder, check the instrument that implements it and its effective date.
What to look for in practice
The programme’s measures are useful when they lead to something a person can understand and use, such as clearer information about limits or an easier way to restrict an account. Progress is better assessed through those concrete changes than through the number of projects announced.
